The 100th birthday of our home

At the museum building’s 100th birthday party on Aug. 29, 2015, Eddie Russ prepares to cut the birthday cake. He is pictured with his wife and WPHS President Bob Langford. Mr. Russ is descended from the Frierson family which owned the building during most of the time it was a private residence. He remembers playing in the home.

The big tree behind the museum

big_treeWe hated to see it go, but the large tree behind the museum has been cut down on the advice of an arborist who examined its health. The tree actually seemed to be three trees combined into one. This photo was taken on Aug. 2, 2015, and shows WPHS board member Terry Kline and his grandson Kaeden Kline standing at the base of the large tree.
