When drywall may be salvageable
Limited clean-water exposure caught quickly may sometimes be dried when the material remains structurally sound and the wall cavity can be effectively addressed.
When removal becomes more likely
Severe saturation, loss of integrity, contaminated water, trapped wet insulation or inability to dry the cavity can make selective removal more practical.
Baseboards and insulation matter too
The drywall face is not the only material to check. Baseboards, insulation, framing and floor edges can also retain moisture.
